Prime Thierry Mugler, with stunning detail, this is a wonderful vintage 1980s skirt suit in a black & white with subtle blue stripe glen plaid lightweight wool suiting. Skirt has front kickpleat with hidden accordian pleating--which is echoed in the jacket cuffs--and closes with three snaps. The jacket is unlined, double breasted with four snap closures, and a fifth to convert the open lapel to a collar. The jacket is unlined, and is gathered at the waist on each side, concealed with buckled self straps. Two pockets stand out from the body. The jacket is a 38; the skirt a 36 (French sizing)--fits like a 2/4, but better on a relatively tall person. You'd be swamped if under, say five foot four.
Measurements: Skirt: 24” waist, 36” hip, 29” Length. Jacket 18" shoulder seam to seam, chest 42” , 27" Length
STORY: Occasionally I buy something purely for love even though it DOES NOT FIT. This was one of those things. I suppose at some point in my life I might have deluded myself that it was just a fat day and I'd be fitting into it easily in a couple of weeks. Yeah right. The jacket could work but what's the point? These two should stay together forever.
